JIMMIE JOHNSON WINS THE COCA-COLA 600

It’s a flood of racing news. Jimmie Johnson won his third straight Coca Cola 600 in a thrilling finish.

Bobby Labonte had a chance to win the race and end his 47 race winless streak, but Jimmie Johnson was able to pass on the final turn and win by .02 of a second.  Jimmie Johnson was showered by the crowd with beer and trash in his win. He said:  “I knew if I could get to Bobby’s quarter panel, I could beat him. I got underneath Bobby on the white flag and I made a mistake, I got sideways. But I knew if I got to his outside, I’d beat him to the line.”  The bigger story was when Dale Earnhardt Jr. wrecked teammate Michael Waltrip.  Track president Humpy Wheeler commented on the problems with the track:  “The problem is not with the asphalt, it is with the crack sealer — and that is not abnormal.”
