If you’re a baseball fan you are probably in a fantasy league. The beginning of this year has been horrific for fantasy baseball closers and relievers. The year has started off miserably for the top closers and relievers. How bad is your fantasy baseball team with these guys?
According to the Elias Sports Bureau there have been 39 blown saves in 99 games so far this year. That’s 40%. Compare that to last year when there were only 35 blown saves in 102 games, which was 34%. An increase of 6% doesn’t sound like much, but consider who is sucking wind.
Look at these statistic lines for top fantasy baseball closers and relievers:
Mariano. Rivera: ERA 6.75 and WHIP 3.38
Keith Foulke: ERA 6.75 and WHIP 1.50
Trevor Hoffman: ERA 13.50 and WHIP 2.25
Braden Looper: ERA 18.00 and WHIP 3.00
Disastrous numbers for top notch fantasy baseball closers and relievers.
