Poor Los Angeles. Another suburb has dropped out of the running for the great stadium fleecing. Footballess since 1995 when the Rams moved to St. Louis, the NFL is pushing hard to get another franchise into the city. The problem is a stadium.
Carson, California‘s motto is “future unlimited”, but they’re taking pass on the NFL.
Mayor Jim Dear said, “The stadium will open only eight games a year as compared to 365 days a year with a mega mall.”
The city is already home to the Home Depot Center, a multi use facility that is home to the MLS Deportivo Chivas USA and the Los Angeles Galaxy. They also hold tennis and track and field contests there.
It’s good to see a city not buckling to the “if you build it they will come” mentality that many cities have fallen under.
