What is cradle cap and how to treat cradle cap

An oily, scaly, yellowish crust called cradle cap sometimes appears on an infant’s scalp. A form of the same problem that causes dandruff-excessive secretion by the skin’s oil glands- it may cover the scalp, occur in patches, or spread to the forehead.

To remove cradle cap, apply mineral or baby oil or petroleum jelly. Leave it on overnight. Then gently brush or comb the softened crust, using a baby brush or a fine-toothed comb. Finally, wash the scalp with a tearless shampoo. Repeat this treatment daily until the cradle cap disappears or is reduced. If it persists after 3 or 4 weeks, consult your pediatrician.
