The post palaeolithic cultures of armenia and transcaucasia

ARMENIA AND TRANSCAUCASIA. Almost nothing is known of this region before the 1st millennium B.C. A Chalcolithic culture has been discovered at Shamiramalti, on Lake Van, and there are dubious Neolithic and Bronze Age finds south of the Caucasus.

During the Early Iron Age, however, Georgia and Russian Armenia were occupied by a people who buried their dead in megalithic graves and had an advanced metallurgy.
