- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 2 pound sausage meat
- 1 medium onion, ground fine
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup soft breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Mix meats, onion, egg and milk. Mix seasonings with breadcrumbs, add to meat mixture. Press down well in greased standard-size bread tin. Bake in 350 oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Basting is usually not necessary since meat is quite juicy. Serves 6 to 8.
When cold, slices of this spicy meat loaf make superb sandwiches.
