How to relieve and cure nausea upset stomach

Relieving the symptoms

Nausea-that sick, queasy feeling that usually precedes vomiting-can be a symptom of many disorders, among them
viral infection, reaction to antibiotics or other drugs, motion sickness, morning sickness during pregnancy, a
skull injury, and such serious illness as appendicitis, ulcers, food poisoning, and diseases of the heart and
gallbladder.

The most common cause of nausea is over indulgence in alcohol or food. The best treatment is to eat little or
nothing for 12 hours or so; then, for another day or two, restrict your diet to simple, bland foods that you know
agree with you. Ginger ale, tea, and clear broth can ease symptoms of nausea. If you feel an attack of nausea
coming on, take several deep, regular breaths. An over-the-counter antacid can ease the heartburn that often
accompanies nausea, but avoid aspirin.
