How to play hide and seek; rules of hideandseek

A game for three or more young children. One child, chosen as It, closes his or her eyes and counts aloud to 25 while the other children hide. After reaching 25, It then calls out, “Ready or not, here I come!” and begins looking for the other children. The first child found becomes it in the next game.

In a variation, some place is chosen as home base. When It sees one of the other children, he or she calls out, “I spy Rebecca” (or whatever the child’s name is) and that child must get to home base before getting tagged by It or (in another variation) before It can reach home base. A child may also sneak out of hiding and get to home base. The first child to be tagged (or beat to home base) becomes It.
