Deal seven cards to each player if two are playing; deal five cards to each if three or four are playing. Place the remainder of the deck facedown on the table and turn the top card faceup beside it to start a discard pile.
Each player, in turn, discards a card that-matches either the suit or the rank of the top card on the discard pile. For example, if the top card is the 7 of spades, you can discard any spade or any 7 on top of it. You can also discard an 8 of any suit and name the suit you wish it to be. If you don’t have a proper card to discard (you are not obliged to use an 8), you must draw from the stockpile until you come to a card you can play.
The first player to discard his or her last card gets points for all the cards remaining in the other players’ hands. Each 8 counts 50, each face card 10, and each ace 1. Other cards score at face value. A game is 100 points.
