How to lubricate your bike

To keep your bike riding smoothly, clean and lubricate it regularly. If you ride a lot, every 2 weeks or so lubricate the brake pivots, chain, freewheel, derailleurs, and inner cables with a dry (graphite) spray lubricant; unlike oil, dry lubricant will not attract dirt.

Once a year or so, apply a light, water resistant grease (available at bike shops) to the bearings on the headset, bottom bracket, wheel hubs, and pedals. Add light machine oil to the oil holes in 3-speed hubs.
