Small snaps are suitable for necklines and other closures that will bear little strain. Use larger, heavier snaps on jacket closures, waistbands, and garments made of heavy fabric.
Snaps are available in black, silver, and clear plastic, or you can cover large snaps with lightweight fabric to match your outfit. Make a pouch for each snap, secure the pouch with a drawstring, trim off excess fabric, and sew the snap in place.
Position the socket half of a snap on the right side of an underlap. Hold it firmly and sew it in place. Place the ball half on the underside of the overlap: align it with the socket half and sew it firmly.
