- 2 cups milk
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla or 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Heat milk in a saucepan. Combine eggs, sugar, and salt and add to milk. Cook slowly, stirring continuously until custard coats a metal spoon. Remove from heat at once. Add flavoring. Cool.
Yield: 6 servings.
