- 2 strips spareribs
- 5 tart apples, peeled and diced
- 2 medium carrots, peeled and diced
- 2 medium onions, peeled and diced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup water
Put carrots and onions in bottom of heavy baking pan which has a cover. Place one strip of spareribs on top of onions and carrots and sprinkle with 1/2 of the salt and pepper. Spread diced apples over meat and sprinkle with cinnamon. Lay remaining strip of spareribs on top of apples and hold in place with skewers thrust down through bottom layer of spareribs. Sprinkle top strip with remaining salt and pepper. Add water to pan and cover. Bake in 325 oven for about 1 hour. Uncover and continue baking for about 30 minutes longer, or until meat is tender.
Number served depends upon size of the strips, but the usual allowance is 1 pound of ribs per person.
